Scouts Victoria members may want to take steps to prevent their work or school accounts from conflicting with their Scouts Victoria account.
Don't worry, at worst you may need to sign-in and sign-out of each account, your work account has no access to your Scouts account, and vice-versa.
You can avoid signing in-and-out by using different browser profiles in Edge or Chrome.
The easiest way to use your Scouts account, is with a web browser
Using different browser profiles
One way to prevent your work or school accounts from conflicting with your Scouts Victoria account is to use different browser profiles. This will create separate instances of your browser, each with its own set of cookies, extensions, and saved passwords.
To create a new browser profile in Edge, follow these steps:
- Open Edge.
- Click the three dots in the top right corner of the window.
- Select Settings.
- Under Profiles, click Add profile.
- Enter a name for your new profile and click Create.
To create a new browser profile in Chrome, follow these steps:
- Open Chrome.
- Click the three dots in the top right corner of the window.
- Select Settings.
- Under People, click Manage other people.
- Click Add.
- Enter a name for your new profile and click Create.
Once you have created a new browser profile, you can sign in to your Scouts Victoria account in that profile. This will keep your work or school accounts separate from your Scouts Victoria account.
Other tips for preventing conflict
In addition to using different browser profiles, there are a few other things you can do to prevent your work or school accounts from conflicting with your Scouts Victoria account:
- Don't use your work or email address for scouting log-ins any more, use your scouts address.
- Use different passwords for your different accounts.
- Clear your browser cookies and cache regularly.
By following these tips, you can help to ensure that your Scouts Victoria account is separate from your work or school accounts. This will help to prevent any potential conflicts to avoid the need to sign in and out more than you need to.
