Frequently Asked Questions

Annual Fee - Extranet

The annual fee in extranet is made up of both Scouts Victoria annual membership fee ($268) and the added fee the group charges. This will be subject to pro rata.

Joining Fee - Extranet

This should cover costs such as scarves, district, hall repayment etc and will not be subject to pro rata.

Onboarding Fee

Is the total of annual fee (after pro rata) and joining fee. This is what will be charged to the parent when joining & will also be visible on the website for your group.

Website changes

Parent will enquire on website using section and postcode. A list of 10 groups in the area detailing meeting times will be shown (this will show both open and full sections). Parents select group (note full section group cannot be selected) and information about the group will appear eg meeting times and onboarding fees.

Parent can elect to either “join” or “trial” at this stage. Alternatively they can go back and continue looking at other groups in the area.

Join versus trial

If section is open parents can elect to immediately join the group by paying the onboarding fee using a credit card.

Alternatively they can elect to trial their child for 3 weeks at group. Upon joining they would need to pay onboarding fee using credit card.

Workflow and nil payment option

GLs will have a workflow that will allow them to monitor the trial period. If GLs wish to they can select option to charge parent nil when joining. This will mean group will be invoiced SV membership fee and group then handles the invoicing.

Comms to parents/GL/Section Leaders

A full suite of comms have been prepared that will ensure parents will receive full info packs about joining the group and Scouts, GLs will be advised that a youth member has joined or is trialling and all relevant section leaders will be advised of the new youth member.

Trial period

This trial period extends for 3 weeks and can be extended by a further 3 weeks by GL. At end of 3/6 weeks parent will be given option to join their child into Scouts or leave the trial having not joined Scouts.

Member Services Team (MST) can extend trial further if necessary.

Full section

If section in extranet is marked as full parents are unable to use website to either join or trial. Group Leaders can issue GL invite direct to these parents to commence process of joining group.

Money Back Guarantee

SV now offers a one month money back guarantee to parents. The one month is from when the parent accepted joining SV during either the join immediately or trial period. Refunds will be handled by Member Services Team (MST).

March period

Parents will not be charged any onboarding fee during the March period. This includes annual fee, SV fee or joining fee.
